Let's face it. Vacationing to the theme park capital of America can be expensive. Flights, rental cars, resorts, Disney World, Universal Studio, SeaWorld and all ain't cheap. With water in every direction, natural attractions and free attractions, you can stretch vacation budget. We're gonna tell you about some fun free things to do and see in Orlando and the Central Florida area to save you some money in the land of Mickey.

Enjoy Parts of Disney World For Free.

Down Town Disney is free. Taking the 30-minute boat ride from Down Town Disney to Port Orleans and back is a gorgeous journey. Kickback and enjoy a free, relaxing ride past the beautifully landscaped Disney hotels and see the homes from the 1800's in Port Orleans. The boat ride will take the load off your feet for a while and best of all, it's free.

Roaming around Downtown Disney is like a mini-Disney experience. Explore, window shop, people-watch and enjoy some live music near the lake area. In the Disney Marketplace, visit the Lego Imagination Center where children can enjoy free Lego building stations and frolic in the nearby playground. Stroll Disney's Boardwalk and enjoy the views of the water and catch the street entertainers.Downtown Disney is located between Typhoon Lagoon and Epcot Center.

Take Advantage of Free Disney Transportation.

Disney World Resorts offers free transportation to and from its various theme parks and property hotels. Depending upon the particular resort/hotel, transportation could include buses, boat travel or monorail. A cost saving hint. Even though you do not stay at a Disney hotel, you can use the various transportation amenities free. Just park at any of the Disney hotels and use their transportation services. Walk along the grounds at each of the hotels, see the sights and enjoy some fabulous landscapes. Holiday and event decor will be out in-force at various times of the year.

Universal CityWalk.

Universal CityWalk, which features the hottest nightlife and entertainment in Orlando is always free just to walk around. See stilt-walkers, jugglers and street entertainers. There are plenty of shops for window-shopping and restaurants that offer quick or sit-down dining. Of course, dining at the restaurants and attending some of the night spots are not free. But if you enjoy great sights and people-watching for free, go to CityWalk. Universal also offers free boat rides to and the University property hotels which includes the Hard Rock Hotel, The Pacific Island Resort, and The Portofino Hotel.

Lake Eola Park. Downtown Orlando.

Visiting Lake Eola Park near downtown Orlando is free although there are modest fees for some activities such as paddle boats and gondola boats. This 43 acre park is the centerpiece of the downtown area. Stroll the 1 mile sidewalk that encircles the lake. Enjoy the views of the downtown skyline, feed the swans and linger amidst the beautiful flower beds in the park. Lake Eola Park is open daily from 6:00 AM to 12 Midnight. Harry P. Leu Gardens.

Entrance to Leu Gardens is free on Monday mornings from 9 AM to Noon. Regular fees are $7 for adults and $2 for children K-12. The Gardens is a 50-acre botanical oasis bordering one of Orlando's many lakes near downtown Orlando. Experience the largest Camelia collection in the US, a tropical stream garden containing the largest banana collection in the U.S.A., a formal rose garden, butterfly & herb gardens and the home demonstration garden featuring an enabling garden, teaching center and wildflower garden. You will encounter a kaleidoscope of colors any time of the year. In the heart of the gardens is a restored late nineteenth century home, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Old Town in Kissimmee.

Old Town is an amusement park for people of all ages. There is a fee for all amusement park rides, but parking and entry is free as are several of its attractions including its Saturday night Classic Car Cruises featuring over 300 classic cars. The Friday Night Cruise features vehicles from 1975 to 1987 plus customs and exotics. Thursday night is bike night. Its Main Stage has a special event every night.
